| VENEERS |
If you are uncomfortable with your smile because your teeth are
uneven, oddly shaped, chipped, crooked or have other irregularities,
Porcelain Veneers offer a natural-looking option, without
orthodontics or braces. Porcelain Veneers are used
by cosmetic dentists for front teeth only and are used to straighten
teeth, change the color and or shape of teeth and even close gaps
between teeth. Veneers are thin porcelain sheets (shaped to
fit your specific teeth and mouth), which are bonded to the front of
existing teeth, without removing substantial surface. To provide a
consistent overall effect, Dr. Sands typically applies a group of
veneers at the same time. The result is a straight, even smile with
teeth that are consistent in color and shape - A beautiful smile
that will last for years to come.

| CROWNS |
Crowns are similar to veneers, but work on teeth that are weaker,
more brittle or worn. Unlike veneers, dental crowns are bonded all
the way around the tooth to add a lot more strength and durability.
Natural-looking crowns can be an option when the entire surface of
the tooth is a problem, but the root system is still intact. Large
scale defects in the tooth's surface can be caused by the grinding
of teeth, tooth decay, root canals, decay beneath a filling or a
lost filling, chipping and cracking of the enamel. Although
gold or metal crowns are still used, durable porcelain crowns made
from pure ceramic or a new reinforced composite resin have become
more popular and are almost indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Natural tooth-colored fillings were created as an alternative to
traditional metal dental fillings (or Amalgam fillings). Tooth
fillings that are colored to look like a natural tooth are known as
Composite Resin Dental Fillings and are made of a plastic dental
resin. Composite Resin Dental Fillings are not only strong, durable,
and offer a more aesthetically pleasing result, they avoid the use
of mercury found in traditional metal fillings.

Today, if you lose one or more teeth, you now have options beyond
bridges and partial dentures. One of those options is dental
implants. Dental implants are titanium fixtures that are surgically
screwed into the jaw bone and are used to anchor natural-looking
false teeth. Since the bone grows around the implant, the result is
a smile that not only looks completely natural, but one that feels
and functions more like your own teeth. Dental implants are not only
an option for patients who lose one tooth. Patients who are missing
most, if not all, of their teeth can greatly enjoy the benefits as
well. Unlike dentures and removable bridges, which are usually
loose and unstable, dental implants provide a permanent replacement.
Implants look and feel much better than dentures and traditional
removable bridges, and offer the same force for biting as bridges
that are fixed in place. Since this is surgery, we spend the
necessary time to inform you of all the details, including the
risks, regarding dental implant surgery.
